MORTON - Chris W. Knapp, 93, of Morton passed away at 1:05 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton. He was born July 26, 1919, in Deer Creek to William and Mollie (Roth) Knapp. He married Emma Braker on June 9, 1946, in Morris, Minn. Surviving are his wife, Emma Knapp of Morton; one son, Gene (Jo Anne) Knapp of Morton; one daughter, Jane (Phil) Price of Milford, Ind.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bill (Eileen) Knapp of Morton. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Knapp on Aug. 5, 1973; three brothers; and three sisters. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving from Jan. 19, 1942, to Jan. 25, 1946. He was a part of the medical division of the 121st General Hospital in England, France and Germany. Chris owned and operated Chris W. Knapp & Son Mason Contractor Inc. in Morton for 38 years. He was a 57-year member of Bricklayers Local 6 in Peoria. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Chris was an inspiration to his family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Restmor for their loving and compassionate care. He was a member of Morton Apostolic Christian Church, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at the Morton Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements. Deer Creek - Clementine M. Joos, 98, of Deer Creek died at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka. She was born July 20, 1911, in Goodfield to William and Mollie (Roth) Knapp. She married William F. Joos on April 14, 1934, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1998. She also was preceded in death by one grandson; three brothers; two sisters; and her son-in-law, Lewis Martin. Surviving are two sons, Glenn (Beverly) Joos and Loren (Elise) Joos, both of Deer Creek; two daughters, Arletta Martin of Eureka and Eileen (Norman) Musselman of Deer Creek; 20 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Chris (Emma) Knapp and Bill (Eileen) Knapp, both of Morton. Clementine was a member of the Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. WASHINGTON - Luella C. Joos, 92, of Washington, Ill., died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka. Born on Oct. 5, 1915, in Goodfield, Ill., to William and Amollia "Molly" Roth Knapp, she married Frederick G. Joos Sr. on April 24, 1937, in Peoria. He died on Jan. 13, 1990. Surviving are two sons, Frederick (Shirla) Joos Jr. and Melvin (Pat) Joos, both of Washington, Ill.; two daughters, Myrna York of Wilmington, Del., and Maralee Joos (Jon Anderson) of Gainesville, Fla.; one sister, Clementine Joos of Deer Creek; two brothers, Chris (Emma) Knapp and William (Eilene) Knapp, both of Morton, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and a special friend, Bob Tesch. Luella was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, where she belonged to the Alter Society. She also was active in the Washington Home Extension for more than 45 years. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing for many years and participated in the Washington Dance of the Month Club. Luella also enjoyed golfing, bowling, riding her bicycle and her extensive travels throughout the world. A highlight in 2000, Luella took her children and their spouses on a five-country European tour. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. Pastor Alice Gwin will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington, with additional visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Birth: Jul. 7, 1919 Forrest Livingston County Illinois, USA Death: Dec. 11, 2010 Berniece Joos, 91, of Tremont, mother of a Lincoln resident, died at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010. Berniece passed on into the arms of Jesus with her loving family around her. She was born July 7, 1919, in Forrest, Ill., the daughter of Sam and Lena (Honegger) Kyburz. She married Benjamin D. Joos on Oct. 8, 1944, in Peoria. He died Feb. 12, 1991. She also was preceded in death by eight brothers and four sisters. Surviving are two sons, Dennis Joos (Kitty Rindle) of Bartonville and Benjamin Joos, Jr. of East Peoria; four daughters, Jane (Jim) Hellrigel of Tremont, Cheryl (Bill) Blunier of Grabill, Ind., Barbara (Tom) Mauhar of Lincoln and Bonnie Mullins of Tremont; and one sister, Wilma McVay of LaFayette, Ind.; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Berniece was a member of the Tremont Apostolic Christian Church, the Deer Creek Home Extension and the Cloverdale Home Extension. She served as a volunteer at Apostolic Christian Restmor and as an Election Judge for Tazewell County. Our Beloved Berniece, cherished Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. Donna Mae Lesher, 85, of Bloomington, passed away at 4:45 am Wednesday August 10, 2011 at Heartland Healthcare in Normal. There will be a graveside service at 11 am Friday at Pennell Cemetery, Towanda. Rev. Doug Pavey will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of McLean County or a charity of the donors choice. Kibler Smith Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born March 27, 1926 in LeRoy, Illinois. She is the daughter of Robert "Bruce" and Josephine (Epperson) LaMont. She married Vernon L. "Red" Roberts. She later married William "Bill" Anderson. In 1969, she married Everett E. Lesher. Survivors include her four sons, Douglas (Jill) Roberts, Bloomington; Steven (fiancée Cindy Richter) Roberts, Clay, N.Y.; David (Sharon) Anderson, and Edward (Teresa) Anderson, both of Towanda. She is also survived by four grandsons; Trent, Troy and Travis Roberts and Jerry (Lynn Fetherston) Anderson, three granddaughters; Kristie Kowall, Kelly (Dan) Lloyd and Ashleigh Roberts and many great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren including Tim (Marcy) Montoya and their children, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Everett, two sisters, two brothers, one grandson, Will Anderson. Mrs. Lesher worked at Saint Joseph Hospital in the snack bar and she also worked at Eureka Williams Co. for 13 years. Donna enjoyed cooking, spending time with her dogs and watching sports on television. |
CARLOCK (PNS) - Mrs. Blanch E. Williamson, 71, of 107 W. Lee died about 4:30 a.m. Saturday at her home. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Otto-Argo Funeral Home. The Rev. Ike Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Williamson was born Dec. 29, 1905, in Kentucky. She was a daughter of Jess O. and Lillie Bush Lecher, and married John D. Williamson on June 27, 1931, in Bloomington. He survives. Also surviving are a son, Ralph, Bloomington; two daughters, Mrs. Elvira Kugel, 108 Ruth Road, Bloomington, and Mrs. Alice Glaser, rural Danvers, six grandchildren and 6 a great-grandchild.
