Funeral services for Anton Schaefer of Morris, MN will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall near Morris. The Apostolic Christian Faith Ministers will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the Fellowship Hall on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery. Anton Edwin Schaefer, son of Henry and Caroline (Joos) Schaefer, was born December 27, 1916 in Moore Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. Anton received his schooling at Country School District #65 thru the eighth grade. Following his schooling, he began farming near Hancock, Minnesota. Anton repented at the age of 21 and was baptized at the age of 22 in 1938 and became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Morris. On May 21, 1950, he was united in marriage to Verna Honegger in Forrest, Illinois. The couple continued farming and raising their children until their retirement. Anton enjoyed have a large garden with lots of flowers every year. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Anton died on Monday, January 28, 2013 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 96 years. He is survived by one daughter, Luanne Horning of Herman; two sons, Stanley (Beverly) Schaefer of Hancock and Rodney (Denise) Schaefer of Hancock; ten grandchildren: Anna Horning, Bradley (Maggie) Horning, Jeffrey (Bekah) Schaefer, Corey Schaefer, Brent Schaefer, Jason Schaefer, Stephanie (Daniel) Messner, Darren (Heidi) Schaefer, Mark Schaefer and Philip Schaefer; five great-grandchildren and one sister, Martha Schaefer of Peoria, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna; one infant daughter, Jane Marie; his parents; six brothers: Christ, Ernest, Emil, John, Otto and Herman and two sisters: Hilda and Lydia. Pallbearers for the service are Anton's grandsons. MAPLETON - Audrey J. Johnson, age 76, of Mapleton passed away at 1:06 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Peoria County to Chris and Louise (Krumholz) Schaefer. She married John Delmer Johnson on Sept. 9, 1951, in Peoria. He survives along with three daughters, Shirley Johnson of San Francisco, Carol (Fernando) Ossandn of Chico Hills, Calif., and Marilyn (Van) Eden of Hansville, Wash.; one son, John (Irene) Johnson Jr. of Los Altos, Calif.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Janice) Schaefer of Peoria; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Lester Johnson, and two brothers, Everett and Richard Schaefer. Audrey will be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother. She spent many years volunteering her time for child development activities and programs in the community. After she raised her children, she worked in market research, including 10 years for Scotti Bureau in Peoria, retiring in 1991. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour before services. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Bartonville. Audrey was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to her church. |
Ernest R. Schaefer TREMONT Ernest R. Schaefer, 79, Tremont, died at 1:15 p.m. yesterday (Aug. 28, 1987) at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Apostolic Christian Church, Tremont, church ministers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Davis Mortuary, Tremont. He was born Nov. 18, 1907, in Lawn Ridge, a son of Henry and Caroline Joos Schaefer. He married Frieda M. Hartter on June 2, 1940, in Goodfield. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Maurice E., Tremont, and Ernest D., West Lake Village, Calif.; four daughters, Josephine A. Schaefer and Kathy Zuercher, both of Tremont; Karen Martin, Plymouth, Mich.; and Linda Ziegenhorn, Olathe, Kan.; five brothers, Emil, John, Otto, Anton and Herman, all of Hancock, Minn.; two sisters, Martha Schaefer and Lydia Hermann, both of Peoria; and 17 grandchildren. graduate of Winn Streator Township High School. |
