They moved to Texas from Tennessee in 1887, arriving on the train. Until they could find land and establish a home, this family divided up and moved in with the Dickeys and Carr Monroe Wallers. The settled at Flag Springs, about six miles southeast of Dodd City and four miles south of Windom. On the trip to Texas there were twelve Rayburns: William Marion Rayburn, aged 46; Martha Waller Rayburn, aged 41; John Franklin, abed 18; Charles Monroe, aged 16; Katherine, aged 14; Lucinda Alice, aged 12; William Henry, and James Lee (twins), aged 10; Meddie Bell, aged 7; Samuel Talliaferro, aged 5; Richard Ash, aged 3; and Thomas Edgar, aged 1. Abner Love Rayburn was b. 2 Jan 1891, in Texas. In 1912, they moved to farm west of Bonham, Texas.
