Gridley- Willis E. Aupperle, 79, of 103 Sunset, Gridley, IL died at 9:00 pm on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Meadows Mennonite Home in Chenoa. He was born on April 5, 1928 in Fairbury, IL to Ernest and Lena Gnehm Aupperle. He married Joanne Moser on December 18, 1949 in Fairbury, Illinois. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Dale (Dyann) Aupperle of Maroa, Illinois; David (Nancy) Aupperle of Wilmington, Delaware; three daughters, Ruth (Elmer) Kaufman of Bloomington, Illinois; Mary Lindsay of Hammonton, New Jersey; Marge (Sven) Anderson of Agoura Hills, California; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eli (Greta) Aupperle of Fairbury; Elmer (Beata) Aupperle of Champaign; and Eldon "Bud" (Virginia) Aupperle of Toulon, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Barbara, and one sister, Ann. Willis was a retired farmer, carpenter, and a leader of the Gridley Golden Banner 4-H Club. He traveled on several Red Cross disaster missions and had a special place in his heart for interacting with neighbors, family, and children. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 pm on Thursday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and from 9-9:45am, Friday at the church. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 8 at the Gridley Apostolic Christian Church followed by a grave side service at the Gridley Cemetery. FAIRBURY - Anna "Ann" L. Aupperle Hagel, 77, St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Fairbury, died at 4 a.m. Sept. 28, 2006, at Woodside Hospice House in Pinellas Park, Fla. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Oct. 22 at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Maple St., Fairbury. "Beth" Michel, 50, of Deer Creek died at 11:55 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, in Deer Creek. She was born May 3, 1964, in Belleville, Ill., to Henry and Erma (Dotson) Baker. She married Gary Schmidgall on March 18, 1994, in Deer Creek. She later married Billy Michel on Sept. 24, 2011, in Groveland. Surviving are three daughters, Shelly Woerner of Zanesville, Ohio, and Jesse Schmidgall and Heather Schmidgall, both of Deer Creek; one grandson, Tobias Ingram of Zanesville, Ohio; her father, Henry Baker of Sparta, Ill.; her mother, Erma Hopping of Mackinaw; one brother, Rick Baker of Mackinaw; one half sister, Sharon (Mario) Quinones of Naples, Fla.; two half brothers, Lester Baker of Freeburg, Ill., and John Baker of Sparta, Ill.; two stepbrothers, Darin Hopping of Florida and Alan (Sue) Hopping of Kenosha, Wis.; and three stepsisters, Janice (Tom) Lee of Springfield, Mo., Judy (Richard) Broussard of Travelers Rest, S.C., and Jody Patton of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Myron "Bud" Hopping; her twin brother, Brian Baker in 2003; and one half brother, Doug Hopping. Beth worked as a paralegal with the Anderson Law Offices in Creve Coeur for 12 years. She was a loving mother and caring friend and was noted for her generosity. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with the Rev. Dr. Alan Newhall officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 10, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Adam Michael Baldes, 32, of Pekin passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Pekin Hospital. He was born June 22, 1980, in Peoria to Michael J. and Deborah A. Look Baldes. He is survived by his father, Michael J. (Tammy McSimov) Baldes of Pekin; mother, Deborah A. (John) Dacey of Pekin; son, Carter Michael Baldes of Pekin; sister, Lindsae Marie Baldes of Chicago Ridge; brother, Kiel Andrew Baldes of Hoffman Estates; grandmother, Jacqueline Baldes of Pekin; and grandparents, Elwood and Helen Look of Tremont. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Elmer Baldes Jr. Adam dearly loved his son. He worked for Track Services in Bartonville, a job he was very passionate about. He loved canoeing, fishing and camping. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at Abts Mortuary in Pekin with visitation two hours prior at the funeral home. Charles F. Barrow, 69, of 602 N. Western Ave., Bloomington, a retired State Farm Insurance Cos. employee, died at 9:40 a.m. yesterday (March 3, 1991) in the emergency room at Brokaw Hospital, Normal. His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Linda Carlson officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from noon until time of service Tuesday at the memorial home. He was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Bloomington, a son of Fred J. and Bonnylynn Book Barrow. He married Fern L. Lesher April 17, 1943, in St. Louis. She survives. Also surviving are his father, 410 E. Washington St., Bloomington; one son, Steven J., Batavia; one daughter, Nancy Beyer, 121 Greenwood Ave., Lot 31, J-Z Mobile Manor, Bloomington; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister. Mr. Barrow worked at State Farm for 36 years in the fabrication department, retiring in 1986. Her funeral was yesterday, with ministers of the German Apostolic Christian Church of Fairbury officiating. Burial was in the German Apostolic Cemetery, Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, was in charge of arrangements. Miss Bittner was born Jan. 5, 1890, in Forrest Township, a daughter of Valentine and Salome Steidinger Bittner. Survivors include one sister, Sallie Bittner, Fairbury. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Miss Bittner was a member of the German Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury. |

A private funeral will be today with church ministers officiating. Burial will be in East Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, is in charge of arrangements. Miss Bittner was born March 12, 1892, in Livingston County, a daughter of Valentine and Salome Steidinger Bittner. Survivors include nieces and nephews.
