He was born on April 5, 1928 in Fairbury, IL to Ernest and Lena Gnehm Aupperle. He married Joanne Moser on December 18, 1949 in Fairbury, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Dale (Dyann) Aupperle of Maroa, Illinois; David (Nancy) Aupperle of Wilmington, Delaware; three daughters, Ruth (Elmer) Kaufman of Bloomington, Illinois; Mary Lindsay of Hammonton, New Jersey; Marge (Sven) Anderson of Agoura Hills, California; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eli (Greta) Aupperle of Fairbury; Elmer (Beata) Aupperle of Champaign; and Eldon "Bud" (Virginia) Aupperle of Toulon, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Barbara, and one sister, Ann.
Willis was a retired farmer, carpenter, and a leader of the Gridley Golden Banner 4-H Club. He traveled on several Red Cross disaster missions and had a special place in his heart for interacting with neighbors, family, and children.
Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 pm on Thursday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and from 9-9:45am, Friday at the church.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 8 at the Gridley Apostolic Christian Church followed by a grave side service at the Gridley Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gridley Emergency Medical Service, or the Red Cross.
