- Josephine Mae Mefford, 87, of 1218 S. Koch St., Bloomington, died at 6:30 a.m. Friday (May 23, 1997) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday (May 26, 1997) at the Wesley United Methodist Church, the Rev. Bert L. Lancaster officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home and for one hour before the service at the church Monday.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Survivors include three sons, Byrl (Cleta) Jones, Normal; Edwin "Bud" (Nancy) Jones, Riverview, Fla.; and Mauri (Peggy) Jones, Bloomington; six daughters, Patricia Bishop, Normal; Jeannine (Ron) Baker, Phoenix, Ariz.; Colleen Malinowski, Bloomington; Sonja (Gordon) Davis, Darango, Colo.; Lila (Tom) Wherry, Carlock; and Candace (Robert) Gustavson, Bloomington; two sisters, Fern Frazer, Oxford, Wisc.; and Bernice Van Deventer, Carlock; 25 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Mrs. Mefford was born May 30, 1909, at Hudson, the daughter of George and Etta Kilmer Farrell. She married William Everett Jones on Dec. 19, 1930, in Peoria, and he died May 22, 1969. She married Marvin Mefford on May 12, 1979. She was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers, three sisters, two grandsons and one great-grandson.
Mrs. Mefford was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, a member of the Bethlehem Rebekah Lodge, the Senior Citizens Card Club, and a member and founder of the Hoedowners Square Dance Club.
She was a woman with a very gentle, loving nature who was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her family.
