- Merle D. Guth WASHINGTON Merle D. Guth, 73, bf 1305 Kingsbury Road, Washington, died at 7:15 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 24, 2005) at Washington Christian Village in Washington. He was born June 20, 1932 in Deer Creek to Chester E. and Fern L. Sharp Guth. He married Hannah Merle Guth Hohstadt on Nov. 27, 1954 in Washington. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Karen (Aaron) Beyer, Roanoke; and Janet (Jim) Zehr, Deer Creek; two sisters, Marilyn Quinn, San Diego, Calif; and Jean (Randy) Chapman, Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He was a small grain farmer, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Calvary Mennonite Church in Washington where he was on the church council. He was a member of the Kennel Lakes Sportsmans Club and Farmer's Co-Op both in Morton. He was also a member of the Tazewell County Farm Bureau. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Calvary Mennonite Church in Washington, the Rev. Dr. David Dillon officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton and 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Garden, Morton; Memorials may be made to the Calvary Mennonite Church Building Fund, 115 E. Jefferson, Washington, IL 61571.
