- WALLER, LEANORA "GRANNY" VICE Leanora "Granny" Vice Waller, 99, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born to the late Walter Clyde and Naomi Brown Vice in Brookside, Alabama. Leanora often called ?Nonie? attended Howard College before marrying the late Jacob Winfield Waller, Jr. in 1933 and lived in Birmingham, Alabama. Her son, Jacob Winfield Waller, III also preceded her in death. Both father and son retired from South Central Bell. Granny was a great "Lady", faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Her life of Godly love helped her sons to find the greatest gift of all- the free gift of salvation thru Jesus Christ our Lord. This legacy extends to her descendants and the following generations. She is survived by her son, Richard Lee Waller, Sr. (Jan); daughter-in-law, Jerry Waller; grandchildren, Rita Grub (David), Susan Waller Scherr (Daron), Richard Allen Waller (Barbara), Beth Waller, and Richard L. Waller, Jr.; great grandchildren, Austin, Mason, Logan, Christina, Brianna, Grace, Isabella, and Zachariah Waller, Jacob and Barringer Scherr; niece Mary Ann Brown; nephews, Bobby Miller, and Clyde Walker. Granny was a long time member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and Linforest Garden Club. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, and University of Alabama football (ROLL TIDE!). She practiced the art of warm hospitality and was always ready to hear of tell a good joke and share laughter with others. Granny was a homemaker and caregiver for her entire adult life. Granny and Jake lived in Birmingham for 42 years. The last 7 years she has spent living in Huntsville with her son, Richard, and his wife, Jan. She will missed by all who knew her and she will be waiting for us in her Heavenly home. We want to give special thanks to Sherri Williams and Cathie Troup for the loving care they gave Granny the last two years of her life, and Hospice of North Alabama. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 22, 5:00-7:00 pm at Ridout?s Elmwood Chapel. Graveside services with be Thursday, February 23 at 11:00 am at Elmwood Cemetery.
