- DEER CREEK - Beverly A. "Beth" Michel, 50, of Deer Creek died at 11:55 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, in Deer Creek.
She was born May 3, 1964, in Belleville, Ill., to Henry and Erma (Dotson) Baker. She married Gary Schmidgall on March 18, 1994, in Deer Creek. She later married Billy Michel on Sept. 24, 2011, in Groveland.
Surviving are three daughters, Shelly Woerner of Zanesville, Ohio, and Jesse Schmidgall and Heather Schmidgall, both of Deer Creek; one grandson, Tobias Ingram of Zanesville, Ohio; her father, Henry Baker of Sparta, Ill.; her mother, Erma Hopping of Mackinaw; one brother, Rick Baker of Mackinaw; one half sister, Sharon (Mario) Quinones of Naples, Fla.; two half brothers, Lester Baker of Freeburg, Ill., and John Baker of Sparta, Ill.; two stepbrothers, Darin Hopping of Florida and Alan (Sue) Hopping of Kenosha, Wis.; and three stepsisters, Janice (Tom) Lee of Springfield, Mo., Judy (Richard) Broussard of Travelers Rest, S.C., and Jody Patton of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Myron "Bud" Hopping; her twin brother, Brian Baker in 2003; and one half brother, Doug Hopping.
Beth worked as a paralegal with the Anderson Law Offices in Creve Coeur for 12 years.
She was a loving mother and caring friend and was noted for her generosity.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with the Rev. Dr. Alan Newhall officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 10, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
