- EUREKA - Lewis J. Martin, 74, of 306 S. Oak Lane, Eureka, died at 6:12 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
He was born on Aug. 18, 1933, in Metamora, Ill., a son of Andrew George and Martha L. Gudeman Martin. He married Arletta C. Joos on April 29, 1956, in Goodfield, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Teresa (Brian) Schieler of Goodfield, Tina (Brian) Wiegand, Tami (Eric) Vierling, Teri (Brian) Vierling, all of Eureka, and Tarla (Steve) Gibbs of Edwards, Ill.; one son, Bruce (Sheri) Martin of Goodfield; three brothers, Lester (Ruth) Martin of El Paso, Nelson (Mary Ellen) Martin of Eureka, and Harvey (Sharon) Martin of Metamora; three sisters, Verna (Richard) Hartter of Eureka, Helen (Robert) Wiegand of Eureka, and Loretta Rumbold of Princeville; one brother-in-law, Robert Belsley of Morton; 25 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian Keith Martin; two sisters, Mabel Belsley and Thelma Martin; and a brother-in-law, Elwin Rumbold.
Lewis farmed in the El Paso and Secor area. He retired from Archer Oil Company.
An Army veteran, Lewis served his country during the Korean War.
