- Doris Ann Michel, 85, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Her sudden death was brought on by a fall which led to a severe head injury.
She was born on December 21, 1935, the daughter of Christian C. and Bessie (Streitmatter) Martin. She married William J. Michel, Jr. on May 13, 1956, in a home wedding in Princeville, Illinois. He survives.
Doris is also survived by three sons, Scott (Carrie) Michel, Steven (Catherine) Michel, and William Michel, III, all of Morton; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Elena) Michel, Sarah (Drake) Irwin, Andrew Michel, Elizabeth Michel, Gabrielle Michel, Blake Michel and Brett Michel; one great grandchild, Maxwell Michel; two sisters, Arlene and Arlys Martin, both of Princeville; and one brother, Gerald (Louise) Martin of Princeville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Alice Metzger of West Bend, Iowa, and Janet Schubert of Peoria; and three brothers, Ervin, Nathan and Ellsworth “Ike” Martin, all of Princeville.
Doris worked at the Princeville State Bank and Hysters, after high school. She volunteered at the Apostolic Christian Skyline Nursing Home in Peoria for many years and also Apostolic Christian Restmor Nursing Home in Morton, delivered food for Meals on Wheels, and was the bookkeeper for the family business, Michel Bros. Masonry for many years.
Doris was very kind and loving person who served the Lord and loved to help others as well as helping her family.
Doris was a member of the Morton Apostolic Christian Church, where a funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 5, 2021, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, and also from 9 to 9:45 a.m., prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. The funeral service will be live streamed on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. via the church website at https://www.mortonacchurch.org/. Burial will be at Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
