- DEER CREEK -- Robert J. Ackerman, 77, of 31940 U.S. Route 150 died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1993, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
Born April 21, 1916, in Morton to Christian and Rosa Jacob Ackerman, he married Emma Louise Joos on Sept. 21, 1940, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Roger of Deer Creek and Donald of Washington, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Tim (Roberta) Beutel of Morton, Diane Peterson of Chelsea, Mich., and Mrs. David (Elaine) Barth of Bluffton, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; one brother, Melvin of Morton; and three sisters, Mrs. John (Viola) Perdelwitz of Zapata, Texas, Mrs. Fred (Velma) Kerr of Chillicothe, Mo., and Mrs. Ray (Lanora) Fort of Pekin. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
He lived at his residence for 52 years. He was a grain and livestock farmer until he retired from farming in 1982. He also was an order filler at the Morton Caterpillar Inc. plant until 1981. A member of Tazewell County Farm Bureau, he also was a past chief of the Deer Creek Rural Fire Department and was a Deer Creek Township Supervisor. He was a 4-H Leader of the Deer Creek Hot Shots for 20 years and was a charter member of Deer Creek PTA. He attended the Apostolic Christian Church in Morton where services will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ludwig-Rohrschneider Mortuary in Morton and 30 minutes before services at the church. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in Morton.
Memorials may made to the Apostolic Christian Church or any charity.
