- MORTON - Chris W. Knapp, 93, of Morton passed away at 1:05 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
He was born July 26, 1919, in Deer Creek to William and Mollie (Roth) Knapp. He married Emma Braker on June 9, 1946, in Morris, Minn.
Surviving are his wife, Emma Knapp of Morton; one son, Gene (Jo Anne) Knapp of Morton; one daughter, Jane (Phil) Price of Milford, Ind.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bill (Eileen) Knapp of Morton.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Knapp on Aug. 5, 1973; three brothers; and three sisters.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving from Jan. 19, 1942, to Jan. 25, 1946. He was a part of the medical division of the 121st General Hospital in England, France and Germany.
Chris owned and operated Chris W. Knapp & Son Mason Contractor Inc. in Morton for 38 years. He was a 57-year member of Bricklayers Local 6 in Peoria.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Chris was an inspiration to his family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Restmor for their loving and compassionate care.
He was a member of Morton Apostolic Christian Church, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at the Morton Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
