- In the early morning hours of September 5, 2018, Ronald E. Joos, 66, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed from this life into eternal glory with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born January 10, 1952 in Peoria, Illinois to Robert K. and Zelma L. Rummerfield Joos. He married Christy Sue Slinkard on July 1, 1972 in Florissant, Missouri at the Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church.
Ronald grew up in Chillicothe, Illinois where he attended and graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1970. He was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University in 1974 majoring in Industrial Technology and minoring in Agriculture. Upon graduation, he worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works in Ottumwa, Iowa for a short time. At this time, he also began his farming career in Davis County, Iowa with his father. In 1975, he moved his young family to the Taylor, Missouri area to begin working for Heimer Construction. In 1980, he started a trucking business, Joos Trucking. In the summer of 1988, he and his family returned to Davis County, Iowa so that he could realize his dream of full-time farming of which he continued until his passing, with this year being his 45th crop year. He loved to spend his days outside working on his farm or driving his semi. But this was nothing compared to the love he had for his wife, Christy, five children, and thirteen grandchildren.
A central part of Ronald’s life was his love of the Lord and service to his church. In his service to the Lord, he served as a pulpit minister of the Apostolic Christian Church for almost 25 years. His desire was that all come to know Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Christy Joos; Eugene (Lana) Joos of Bloomfield, IA; Tamara (Charles) Lucie of Basco, IL; Jennifer (Brian) Clifton of Kirksville, MO; Andrew (Stacy) Joos of Bloomfield, IA; Jacob (Sara) Joos of Bloomfield, IA; his mother Zelma L.
