He preceded her in death on June 18, 1998. Surviving are three sons, Donald L. Jones, Robert C. (Simone) Jones and Lawrence (Judy) Jones; two daughters, Carolyn J. 252 | Samuel Anthony Waller, 77, of ruralCarlock, Il passed away at home on his farm surrounded by family and was welcomed home by Jesus into heaven on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. He was born on December 10, 1940 in Carlock, IL a son of Sammie Houston and Teresa Marksteiner Waller. He married Neva Kelley on May 17, 1964 in Morton, IL. She passed away on April 9, 2016. Survivors include four children, Jeff(Pansy) Waller of San Angelo, TX; Jody(Tom) Bunton of Washington, IL; Daniel(Stacy) Waller of Eureka, IL; Natalie Waller of Bloomington, IL; three brothers, Jim(Jackie) Waller of Hudson, IL; Bob Waller and Roger(Pat) Waller both of Carlock, IL; one sister, Esther(Bob) Shaw of Lehigh Acres, FL; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by many foster children whom he and his wife welcomed into their home over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Sam graduated from El Paso High School. He was a farmer and also worked for Crow’s Hybrid Seed Company before starting his own seed company, Ag Plus Seed Company. After retirement, he worked as a crop adjuster for Country and Great American Insurance Company. Sam was a member of the Army National Guard. A special thanks goes to his dear friend and caregiver for the past four years Tim Smith. Funeral services will be held at 10:30a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Liberty Bible Church in Eureka. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 4-7p.m. at Liberty Bible Church and also from 10:00-10:30a.m. on Tuesday prior to services at the church. Burial will be at East White Oak Union Cemetery in rural Carlock. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home is handling arrangements for the family. 255 | Sept. 1, 1913 - Nov. 6, 2005 A simultaneous memorial service will be held for Louise Grace Smith nee Waller, 92, of Vacaville, by her Tennessee family at the church Louise joined as a young woman, the First Baptist Church in Lenoir City, Tenn. Pastor Su Schlagel will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Mrs. Smith passed away Nov. 6, 2005, in Vacaville. She was born Sept. 1, 1913, in Lenoir City, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Thomas Carr and Elizabeth Victoria Waller, she married Victor Jack Smith during World War II. At the end of WW II, they moved to Carmichael. Louise worked for the Franchise Tax Board, as did her husband. They enjoyed square dancing. Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Sharon Rose and husband and "favorite" son-in-law, Dave King of Vacaville; grandson, Chuck King and his wife, Shirley and their three beautiful daughters, Samantha, Marissa and Breanna all of Citrus Heights; sisters, Alice Smith, Bonnie Rose Earley, Naomi O'Neal, Martha May Stokes (Ken), and Edna Clark, all of East Tennessee and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and only brother, Harden Waller, and elder sister, Ruby Waller. Louise carried a small piece of paper in her purse with a handwritten note entitled "My Wishes." 256 | Shirley A. Joos, 95, of Elgin, formerly of Peoria passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Highland Oaks, Elgin. She was born August 12, 1928, in Bureau, IL the daughter of Frank and Martha Hoffman Clary. She had been a resident of Peoria for most of her life and was employed at the Peoria County Court House for many years before retiring. She gave her life to Christ and was baptized on her 90th birthday. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Elgin. Surviving are her 3 children, Karen (Roger) Weiss of Hampshire, Steven Joos of Peoria, and Rodney Joos of Peoria, 7 grandchildren, Ryan (Becky) Weiss, Jamie (Lynwood) Schambach, Eric (Amanda) Weiss, Craig (Amy) Weiss, Alison (John) Sweet, Aron Joos and Mandy (Tony) Mowder, 20 great grandchildren and a brother-in-law Chirs (Diane) Joos. 262 | The funeral for Albert Joos, of Hancock, Minnesota will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, near Morris. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Apostolic Church Cemetery, near Morris. Albert Joos, son of Otto and Rose (Traub) Joos, was born on December 23, 1915 at Stark County in Illinois. When Albert was a young boy, the family moved to a farm near Tinney, Minnesota. Three years later, the family moved to Bertha, Minnesota, where Albert attended first grade. A few years later, the family moved to a farm near Hancock, Minnesota, where Albert attended school in District #65 and finished the 8th grade in District #16. He then worked on the family farm and milked cows. On October 31, 1943, Albert was united in marriage to Edith Nellie Zeltwanger at Morris, Minnesota. The couple lived and farmed in Horton Township and later purchased a farm in the Hancock area. Edith died on August 26, 2003. Albert continued to live near Hancock until 2007, when he moved to the Skyview Court in Morris. He became a resident at the West Wind Village before entering the Courage Cottage in Morris. Albert enjoyed fishing, gardening, feeding livestock and farming. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Albert served on the Hancock Co-Op Creamery Board for 39 years. He loved being with his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Albert died on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, Minnesota. He was 94 years old. He is survived by two sons, Robert Joos, Minneapolis, MN, and Jerry Joos, Hancock, MN; two daughters, Jan Knapp, Peoria, IL and Barb (Rod) Heimer, Taylor, MO; ten grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, his parents, one daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter. Pallbearers for the funeral will be Scott Joos, Brandon Schock, Shane Joos, Aaron Schock, Jamie Joos, Jesse Heimer and Jacob Heimer. Honorary pallbearers will be Mitchell Hoerr, Peyton Joos, Billy Waibel, Creighton Schock, Blake Joos, Gideon Joos, Max Heimer and Ridge Snyder. Burial will be held at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Morris. Lloyd Eugene Nohl, son of Henry and Anna (Joos) Nohl was born on December 13, 1938 in Morris, MN. He was united in marriage to Joyce Sauder on December 13, 1959 in West Bend, IA. While living in West Bend Lloyd worked for Mertz John Deere Implement. The couple was blessed with their first child in 1962. Shortly after, the family relocated to the Hancock area where they had their two sons and Lloyd began farming with his father. In 1976, they moved to Rio Grande Valley where they were able to make their family complete with two more daughters, and a home for 30 foster children throughout the years. Lloyd was a loyal and hardworking employee for Mission Paving for 28 years. Lloyd was a devoted member of the Apostolic Christian Church. He enjoyed spending time with those near and dear to him and taking care of the world God blessed him with. Lloyd passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Life Care Hospital in McAllen, Texas, having reached the age of 76 years. He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Mission TX; five children: Sandi Garcia, McAllen, TX, Terry (Peggy), Hancock, MN, Lloyd (Sara), Duluth, MN, Julie (Jason) Kotek, Northfield, MN, Erika Nohl, Mission, TX; his twin sister, Lucille (Harland) Stueber, Burnsville, MN; one brother, David (Cheryl) Nohl, Morris, MN; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and the extended Sauder family. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rose Schott; one brother-in-law, Terry Schott; one sister-in-law, Eileen Nohl and one great-granddaughter, Jasmine Elizabeth Norman. Mr. Gannaway died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday (April 5, 1995) at St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. He was born Jan. 7, 1907, in Kentucky, the son of Jesse and Dora Mattingly Gannaway. He married Florence L. Lesher Jan. 29, 1929, in Bloomington. She died Feb. 20, 1990. Survivors include one son, Orville Gannaway, 408 E. Sycamore St., Normal; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Two daughters preceded him in death. Mr. Gannaway was a self-employed excavating contractor. He was a retired member of the Teamsters and Operating Engineers unions. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and a life member of Odd Fellows. She was born Aug. 18, 1913, at Danvers, a daughter of Henry and Kate Waller Jones. She married David E. Jackson Feb. 28, 1933, at Carlock. He died Sept. 26, 1974. Surviving are one son, Henry L. Jackson, Midland, Texas. One daughter preceded her in death. Mrs. Jackson was a member of Park United Methodist Church, Bloomington, the Order of the Eastern Star and was active in Korney Kampers Club. She was a homemaker. 267 | They moved to Texas from Tennessee in 1887, arriving on the train. Until they could find land and establish a home, this family divided up and moved in with the Dickeys and Carr Monroe Wallers. The settled at Flag Springs, about six miles southeast of Dodd City and four miles south of Windom. On the trip to Texas there were twelve Rayburns: William Marion Rayburn, aged 46; Martha Waller Rayburn, aged 41; John Franklin, abed 18; Charles Monroe, aged 16; Katherine, aged 14; Lucinda Alice, aged 12; William Henry, and James Lee (twins), aged 10; Meddie Bell, aged 7; Samuel Talliaferro, aged 5; Richard Ash, aged 3; and Thomas Edgar, aged 1. 269 | tokes - Martha Mae Waller Wester Stokes, age 87, peacefully left this world to meet her Savior and walk the golden streets with those that have gone on before her on July 8, 2011 at Mercy Residential Hospice after a short illness. She retired from Sears and was a faithful member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church for many years. She is predeceased by her first husband, Harry Wester, four of her sisters, one brother and one grandson. She was born on January 2, 1938 in Woodford County a daughter of Cecil and Nova Metzger McClure. She married Raymond L. Waller on June 24, 1956 in Carlock. 273 | TREMONT - Bertha A. Michel, 81, of 603 Maple Court died at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday at Methodist Medical Center, where she was a patient 12 days. Born July 26, 1906, in Alta to Ernest and Louise Aupperle Joos, she married Willam C. Michel on March 12, 1931, in Peoria. He died July 25, 1983. One sister also preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, William Jr. and Donald L., both of Morton, and Paul E. of Tremont; one daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Louise) Martin of Princeville; eight gandehildren; and one great-grandson. Also sUrviving are seven brothers, John Joos of Princeville, William Joos of Deer Creek, Fred Joos of Wasbington, George and Paul Joos, both of Morton, Benjamin Joos in Minnesota and Samuel Joos of Edwards;and three sisters, Miss Frieda Joos of Peoria, Mrs. Robert (Emma) Ackerman of Deer Creek and Mrs. Harold (Louise) Winemiller of Washington. 274 | TREMONT - Jane Marie Hellrigel, 67, of Tremont passed away at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at her home. She was born June 17, 1947, in Peoria to Benjamin and Berniece (Kyburz) Joos. She married Jim Hellrigel on Feb. 1, 1969, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in East Peoria. Surviving are her husband of Tremont; one son, Todd (Sally) Hellrigel of Green Valley; one daughter, Tina (Sam) Garmon of Clarendon Hills, Ill.; six grandchildren, Abby, Andrew, Benjamin, Maxwell, Gabrielle and Allie; two stepgrandchildren, Andrew and Austin Miller; two brothers, Dennis (Katherine) Joos of Peoria and Benjamin Joos of East Peoria; and three sisters, Cheryl (Bill) Blunier of New Haven, Ind., Barbara (Tom) Mauhar of Lincoln, Ill., and Bonnie (Stephen) Nave of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents. Jane worked as a reservationist with Ozark Airlines from 1967 to 1972. She then worked part time at Caterpillar Inc. and later as a receptionist at Clifton Gunderson from 1992 to 2002 and Suzi Davis Travel in Pekin from 2006 to 2014. She was a former member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in East Peoria and later attended Northwoods Community Church in Peoria. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt peacefully passed on into the loving arms of Jesus. Throughout her life, Jane was a friend to all, always greeting those in her life with a smile and kind, uplifting word. She inspired us to be better people by living her life with courage, dedication to her family and friends and her faith in Jesus. Her passion for life was centered around her family and friends and included baking cookies at Christmas with her grandchildren, holiday parties and birthday celebrations. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends and visited Hawaii, Alaska, Europe and Israel. Favorite family vacations included trips out West with the whole family, spending a week together each summer. Our beautiful Jane loved us enough to last a lifetime. 275 | Verna Elizabeth Honegger, daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Moser) Honegger, was born January 24, 1921 in Forrest, Illinois, where she was baptized on July 28, 1940 at the Apostolic Christian Church. She received her schooling at Center Country School thru the 8th grade and then attended Forrest High School. Following her schooling, Verna worked 1½ years in Fairbury, IL and nine years in Peoria, IL, doing housekeeping. On May 21, 1950, she was united in marriage to Anton Schaefer in Forrest, IL. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Hancock, where they farmed until their retirement. They moved to Sky View Court in Morris in 2005. Verna enjoyed gardening, cooking, tatting and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Verna died on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 86 years. 277 | Virginia "Mae" Gannaway, 80, of Normal passed away at 8:10 a.m. Saturday (March 1, 2014) at her home after an extended illness. She was born on March 21, 1933 in Bloomington, a daughter of Clarence and Marguerite Koch Wilcox. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Donald, Harold, Melvin and Gary Wilcox and two sisters, Rose Otto and Rosealee Wilcox. She married Orville Gannaway on Jan. 12, 1951 in Normal. He survives. 278 | WALLER, LEANORA "GRANNY" VICE Leanora "Granny" Vice Waller, 99, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born to the late Walter Clyde and Naomi Brown Vice in Brookside, Alabama. Leanora often called ?Nonie? attended Howard College before marrying the late Jacob Winfield Waller, Jr. in 1933 and lived in Birmingham, Alabama. Her son, Jacob Winfield Waller, III also preceded her in death. Both father and son retired from South Central Bell. Granny was a great "Lady", faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Her life of Godly love helped her sons to find the greatest gift of all- the free gift of salvation thru Jesus Christ our Lord. This legacy extends to her descendants and the following generations. She is survived by her son, Richard Lee Waller, Sr. (Jan); daughter-in-law, Jerry Waller; grandchildren, Rita Grub (David), Susan Waller Scherr (Daron), Richard Allen Waller (Barbara), Beth Waller, and Richard L. Waller, Jr.; great grandchildren, Austin, Mason, Logan, Christina, Brianna, Grace, Isabella, and Zachariah Waller, Jacob and Barringer Scherr; niece Mary Ann Brown; nephews, Bobby Miller, and Clyde Walker. Granny was a long time member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and Linforest Garden Club. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, and University of Alabama football (ROLL TIDE!). She practiced the art of warm hospitality and was always ready to hear of tell a good joke and share laughter with others. Granny was a homemaker and caregiver for her entire adult life. Granny and Jake lived in Birmingham for 42 years. The last 7 years she has spent living in Huntsville with her son, Richard, and his wife, Jan. She will missed by all who knew her and she will be waiting for us in her Heavenly home. We want to give special thanks to Sherri Williams and Cathie Troup for the loving care they gave Granny the last two years of her life, and Hospice of North Alabama. 279 | Walter W. Joos, 79, of Princeville, formerly of Chillicothe, died at 12:51 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2001, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Born March 24, 1922, in Edelstein, Illinois, the son of Emil and Lena Musselman Joos, he married Caroline Julia Miller January 16, 1949, in Peoria. She died June 24, 1990, in Peoria. He later married Janet Price Martin December 29, 1996, in Princeville. She survives. He was a World War II Army Infantry Veteran. He farmed in the Monica and Chillicothe areas, and also worked for Caterpillar Inc, for 20 years, first in the Machine Shop, then in assembly, and last in sanitation, until retiring in 1987. He also volunteered at Parkhill Nursing Home, Chillicothe; Apostolic Christian Skylines, Peoria; OSF St. Francis Medical Center Main Building; and most recently OSF Center for Health. 280 | WASHINGTON - Luella C. Joos, 92, of Washington, Ill., died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka. Born on Oct. 5, 1915, in Goodfield, Ill., to William and Amollia "Molly" Roth Knapp, she married Frederick G. Joos Sr. on April 24, 1937, in Peoria. He died on Jan. 13, 1990. Surviving are two sons, Frederick (Shirla) Joos Jr. and Melvin (Pat) Joos, both of Washington, Ill.; two daughters, Myrna York of Wilmington, Del., and Maralee Joos (Jon Anderson) of Gainesville, Fla.; one sister, Clementine Joos of Deer Creek; two brothers, Chris (Emma) Knapp and William (Eilene) Knapp, both of Morton, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and a special friend, Bob Tesch. Luella was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, where she belonged to the Alter Society. She also was active in the Washington Home Extension for more than 45 years. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing for many years and participated in the Washington Dance of the Month Club. Luella also enjoyed golfing, bowling, riding her bicycle and her extensive travels throughout the world. A highlight in 2000, Luella took her children and their spouses on a five-country European tour. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. 281 | Washington - Neva Jean Kelley Waller, 72, of Washington, IL, formerly of Carlock, passed away at home after a 10-year struggle with dementia and was welcomed home by Jesus into heaven on Saturday, April 9, 2016. She was born on December 21, 1943 in Peoria, IL a daughter of Joseph Vernon and Eleanor Klopfenstein Kelley. She married Samuel Anthony Waller on May 17, 1964 in Morton, IL. He survives. Also surviving are her four children, Jeff (Pansy) Waller of San Angelo, TX; Jody (Tom) Bunton of Washington, IL; Daniel (Stacy) Waller of Eureka, IL; Natalie Waller of Bloomington, IL; one sister, Kay Alberts of Springfield, IL; one brother, John (Marcia) Kelley of Morton, IL; 15 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She is also survived by many foster children whom she and her husband welcomed into their home over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents. Neva graduated from Morton High School and worked as an office manager at Illinois State University. She loved the Lord and was an avid prayer warrior. She and her friend Yvonne Huber formed a musical group with their families, The Nevonne Melody Makers, which made two albums and traveled to numerous churches and camps singing about the Lord. She was born April 15, 1921, in Tenney, Minn., to Ernest and Louise (Aupperle) Joos. She married Verner Harold Winemiller on Feb. 18, 1945, in Morton. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1999. She also was preceded in death by one granddaughter; nine brothers; and four sisters. Surviving are her children, Roy (Elvia) Winemiller of East Peoria, Larry Winemiller, Karen (Bob) Gustafson and Rex (Paula) Winemiller, all of Washington; 10 grandchildren, Molly Bonney, Max Winemiller, Tina Roe, Alan Winemiller, Tammy Christian, Doug Gustafson, Laura Gustafson, Heather Ulrich, Jeff Winemiller and Bryan Winemiller; three step-grandchildren, Paola Rojo, Daniel Rojo and Alex Cortes; 14 great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. She was a member of Morton Apostolic Christian Church. She also was a member of the Woodford County Home Extension for more than 50 years. Born Oct. 14, 1914, in Tenney, Minn. to Ernest and Louise Apperle Joos, he married Luella C. Knapp on April 24, 1937, in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Frederick G. Jr. and Melvin, both of Washington; two daughters, Myrna York of Wilmington, Del. and Mrs. Larry (Maralee) Romfh of Lake Butler, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six bothers, John of Princeville, William of Deer Creek, George of Morton, Paul of East Peoria, Ben of Mesa, Ariz., and Sam of Brimfield; and three sisters, Miss Freida Joos of Peoria, Mrs. Robert (Emma Ackerman of Deer Creek and Mrs. Harold (Louise) Winemiller of Washington. He was preceeded in death by two sisters and two brothers. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He was a retired self-employed realtor. He co-founded Morton Realty and managed the Washington office from 1951 to 1984. He worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 16 years. He developed Washington Edgewood Subdivison and was co-developer of Washington Knolls Addition, Ponderosa Estates and Green View Estates in Morton. He served as alderman for the city of Washington from 1965 to 1969. He was a past member and past president of the Washington Rotary club. He was a post member of the State and National Association of Realtors, the Independent Insurance Agents Association Peoria Board of Realtors and Society of Real Estate Appraisers. 284 | will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Donald Eugene Joos, son of David and Corneilia “Neil” (Nohl) Joos, was born November 15, 1939 in Hodges Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. Don attended and graduated from Hancock High School in 1957. Following his schooling, Don joined the National Guard, serving six years and earning the rank of Sergeant. On September 16, 1967, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Melchert at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. Following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed near Hancock. Don and his brother, David Jr. formed a partnership called Da-Don Farm. In September of 2017, Don and Jeanette celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. In October of 2018, they moved to Morris where they continued to live until the time of Don’s death. Don was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Hancock, where he served on the church council for 12 years. He also served on the Hancock Co-op Board for 26 years and the Hancock School Board for 18 years. Don enjoyed baseball, bowling, fishing, hunting, and softball. He was the manager of the Hancock Orphans for many years. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Don died on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris. He was 79 years old. 286 | William J. “Bill” Knapp, 96, of Morton, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Villas of Holly Brook in Morton. Bill was born August 8, 1924, to William Sr. and Mollie (Roth) Knapp. He married Eileen Rose Stetzler on October 9, 1949. They celebrated 70 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on February 23, 2020. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, George, Elmer, Albert, and Chris Knapp; and three sisters, Clementine Joos, Luella Joos, and Alice Knapp. Surviving are his three daughters, Carol (Bob) Beyer of Pekin, Diane (Mike) Wurmnest of Deer Creek and Vicki Bennett of Morton; seven grandchildren, Lindsay Shawver, Austin (Jessica) Beyer, Chad (Emily) Wurmnest, Kyle (Jaime) Wurmnest, Jenna (Jake) Nicholson, Tyler (Victoria) Bennett, and Parker Bennett; eleven great grandchildren, Ciara Beyer, Colin Beyer, Carter Baldes, Cynthia Beyer, Roman Berry, Jack and Lucy Wurmnest, Garrett and Gavin Wurmnest, and Kimber and Kaylee Nicholson; and one great-grandchild on the way. Bill was the owner and operator of Wm. J. Knapp Inc. Mason Contractor. He worked in the Tazewell County Assessor’s Office, and he also drove vehicles for Morton Auto Auction and Sam Leman Auto Group. Bill volunteered countless hours for Morton Midwest Food Bank. He enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre and pinochle. Bill looked forward to visitors on the driveway while enjoying a cocktail or two. He loved to hunt and fish with his nephews and grandchildren in Canada, Wyoming, and any local pond or lake. Bill enjoyed organizing numerous fish frys. Bill and Eileen made great memories traveling the countryside in their camper with their family and many bus trips and cruises with their friends. Bill was a member of Morton United Methodist Church in Morton. He was a founding member of Morton Optimist Club since 1956, and was also a member of Kennel Lake Sportsman Club in Morton. 287 | William J. “Bill” Michel Jr., 90, of Morton passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton. He was born on March 29, 1932, in Peoria to William C. and Bertha (Joos) Michel. Bill married Doris Ann Martin on May 13, 1956, in Princeville, Ill. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2021. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald. Surviving are his sons, Scott (Carrie) Michel, Steven (Catherine) Michel and William Michel III, all of Morton; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Elena) Michel, Sarah (Drake) Irwin, Andrew Michel, Elizabeth Michel, Gabrielle Michel, Blake Michel and Brett Michel; three great-grandchildren, Maxwell Michel, Brooks Michel and Paige Irwin; one sister, Louise (Gerald) Martin of Princeville; one brother, Paul (Helen) Michel of Tremont; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In 1948, at the age of 16, Bill left farming to go to work for his uncle at Joos Brothers Masonry in East Peoria, where he worked until 1968, when he and his brother, Donald, co-founded Michel Brothers Masonry in Morton. Bill retired in 1998. After retirement, he and Doris traveled the country in their RV. Bill attended Morton Apostolic Christian Church and recently gave his heart to the Lord. He was a member of Wilmor Sporting Club and the Tazewell County Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the Bricklayers Local 6 for over 50 years. 288 | Zelma “Lorene” Joos, age 95, of Peoria, formerly of Chillicothe, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at 9:15 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria. She was born January 19, 1926 in Kirksville, MO to Claude and Irene (Acton) Rummerfield. She married Robert K. Joos on July 6, 1946. He passed away September 29, 2010 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons: Robert D. Joos, Ronald E. Joos, two brothers: Claude Rummerfield, Jr, Vernon Rummerfield, one sister, Millie Dobbins, and one great-grandson. Survivors include one son, Ralph (Jenny) Joos of Wyoming, IL, two daughters-in-law, Rebecca Joos of Buda, IL, Christy Joos of Bloomfield, IA, 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Norma Gronewald of Chillicothe Lorene was a member of the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church on Sheridan Road for 59 years.
